Many housing manufacturers now offer models with integrated side windows, which allow a view into the interior and on the installed hardware. Only then it becomes possible that the high-end components or the elaborate modding can be adequately appreciated. On the other hand, the available Windows offer only a limited design bandwidth. Although occasionally experimented with special forms, most companies are looking for only rectangular acrylic glass panes in clear appearance.
However, it does not have to stay that way, assuming some manual skill. With a wide range of numerous colors and sizes, a variety of modifications can be realized. With a Dremel, for example, an individually shaped opening can be milled into the side wall of the housing, in order to subsequently secure an acrylic glass pane behind it. But the disc shape itself is customizable. In addition, engravings can be milled into the surface, thus ensuring a unique style.
These are acrylic glass GS. This relatively break-resistant, weather-resistant and highly transparent, thermoplastic material can be molded and processed well. It can be milled, drilled and sawed and can be formed at temperatures of 160 to 180 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, this requires that, when sawing with electrical assistance, care must be taken to ensure that the saw blade does not become too hot, as otherwise the interface may immediately re-glued after passing. Otherwise, care must be taken to be careful.
This version is light green, transparent and with 400 x 400mm size and 3mm thickness, for example, suitable for medium housing. The acrylic plate is glossy on both sides and each with a protective film (Figure 2).
